Seeking care for my mother in her 90s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, help staying physically active, mobility assistance. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be anxious, pleasant, reserved, independent. Likes people. Used to knit, sew, quilt, needlepoint, smock, great cook, hostess, gardening and flowers. Loves church. Memory continues to get worse. Forgets that she has moved (6 years ago) and wants to do something, but doesn't take the initiative as she can't remember. Needs help with shower, but will probably refuse so the caregiver should act as 2nd pair of hands to make the process easier for her. Looking at magazines, maybe some simple handwork, walking in halls, talking about recipes, simple craft but would need instruction-all to take her mind off moving. When she is by herself, she gets anxious and wants more to do. She walks with walker, but will tell you she doesn't need it. She tires easily and like to nap after lunch. I'm looking for someone who is patient, strong, fond of pets. Person who would be companion and somehow help mom do anything she likes. Mom isn't a person that wants to sit and continually watch TV or be in Lobby watching TV with group of people. That is fine sometimes, but not all the time. She needs reminders and guidance as she will forget immediately. Want someone who will be a friend. She would not understand that we would "pay" for companion.
