Personal Assistant

Full Time
We are looking for an in home carer/personal assistant for our 12-year-old daughter who has a muscle condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. E uses an electric wheelchair and needs assistance doing most tasks like brushing her hair, opening and closing doors, help with homework, and other daily tasks and self care. You'd be trained to transfer her in and out of her chair, be responsible for stretching and repositioning E, assist her with preparing food and snacks. Occasionally, you may need to assist with bathing or toileting. E is part of a large family so someone will always be home to assist if needed. The applicant should be willing to play, do crafts, and other fun things or just chill with E. Must be patient and kind. Nonsmoker, healthy individual needed. E can not be around illness, especially respiratory infections. Flu shot required during flu season. Must be 18 or older and pass background check. Position is for 20+ hours a week with potential for more. During the school year hours would be from 4-8 on variable school days. Weekend hours would be available. We are flexible. Position pays $13/hr. About E: E is mostly just your typical tween. Between playing on her phone, watching online videos, and talking with her BFF, she stays busy. She likes to draw, go to movies, sing, and loves all things FNAF. E loves to laugh and always gravitates to the funny, adventurous people. E has Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2. It makes all her muscles weak, including her breathing muscles. E goes every 4 months to get an injection into her spine to help her maintain strength. Most recently, E was diagnosed with a mild cognitive delay and a processing delay. These are unrelated to SMA. She's thoughtful, sweet, respectful, and sassy. She has been braver than a parent ever wishes their child should have to be and has immeasurable inner strength. If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact me.
