Appointments must be made in advance for the vaccinations. presently the appointments are being scheduled about 4 weeks out. The vaccination can be either Pfizer or Moderna. Similarly, he needs transportation to Phoenix for an appointment with a doctor. He will occasionally need to take other appointments there. Further down the road, he may have other needs. About the care needs: The person must be easy going and patient. Martys speech is not always clear thus the person must listen closely. Similarly, they will need to speak very slowly and repeat things and perhaps write them down in order to be understood. Most sounds come across as noise to Marty, as opposed to words. When talking to doctors, it is courteous to allow Marty to tell the doctor what his needs are. it may be necessary to speak for him, but not before giving him a chance to speak on his own behalf. Some doctors are impatient. The caregiver can kindly ask the practitioner to slow down their speech and speak directly to him. Naturally, the caregiver will need to listen carefully since Marty will not understand everything and the doctors may not be able or willing to slow down. She is wheelchair bound so the person responsible for her care would need to be physically able to lift her in-and-out of her wheelchair shower, and bed.
