I possess a BA in Psychology and a minor in Child and Adolescent Development, as well as around 3 years of progressive experience working with both typically and atypically functioning children. My most recent job as a Lead Behavioral Therapist consisted of experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ages ranging from 4 to 17 years in both school and home settings. What I loved about this role was the opportunity to lead a social skills group, with which I was responsible for planning curriculum and coordinating outings. My groups aimed to teach my students social skills such as promoting eye contact when talking to others, giving others space, and overall appropriate interaction with others. We also focused on practicing skills needed when out in the community such as staying with the group and walking safely when next to streets. I want to offer this service on Care. com to help children with autism meet goals in their social and community skills development.
