I have many years of experience caring for seniors and people with disabilities. This experience includes, hoist transfers, showering, bowel assistance, bladder care, skin care, personal hygiene, dressing and grooming, passive exercise, assistance with medication, meal preparation, light housekeeping and running errands. I have worked in a number of different fields; however, I find working with seniors and people with disabilities to be the most rewarding. My experience in associating with elderly people is quite rewarding on a personal level and have a tendency of creating strong and long-lasting bonds with these individuals. In March 2014, I was offered a job as a caregiver to a lovely 89-year-old lady, providing around-the-clock care. My duties included assistance showering, personal hygiene, dressing and grooming, all transfers, assistance with medication, cooking, meal prep, light housekeeping, playing board games, taking her out for walks in a wheelchair and giving massages. Most nights, I would wake up about 3-4 times, to help her from her bed to the toilet, then from the toilet back to her bed. She had Alzheimer's/dementia and heart problems, she unfortunately passed away, on the 5th of October, 2014. In late November on 2014 I worked caring for a friendly 64-year-old lady with MS on a part time basis. My responsibilities include managing medication, taking her out to medical appointments and writing reports on each medical visit, physically assisting with exercises 3 times a day at home and once a week at the pool, meal preparation, light household duties, running errands, taking her out shopping and keeping her company throughout the day. Due to the improvement of my client's health dramatically this led to the reduction of my working hours. I then pursued my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course; I am currently a Certified Nursing Assistant, registered under the state of Washington. Other certificates that I have are nurse delegation, dementia/Alzheimer's and mental health. I would describe myself as an honest, caring, patient, compassionate, and very friendly individual who has a lot of respect for the elderly. I have a reliable transport with full coverage insurance, a valid Washington driver's license and I am willing to travel and work anywhere in the Seattle/Puget Sound area.
