I have worked with children for about 10 years. I started working with children with special need (predominately children with autism) in 2011. I came into this field not knowing much. I was eager to learn and so curious about the different classifications of autism that I would go to the library and read up on it. As much as I read about it, nothing compared to the first hand experience of working with children. Three years later, all I have is appreciation towards the children that I worked with because they helped me find my passion. They are my motivation. As much as I taught my children, they taught me more. They taught me more about myself than I could ever learn. They helped me put things into perspective and taught me how to appreciate the simple joys of life. It is very rewarding working with children with special needs. I have learned that through my students.
