I took care of a woman for 22 months and did all her care, bathing, cut her hair, manicured her nails and feet - just pampered her. She had to be fed and changed. 1st job after closing my 16 yr daycare was the care of a 75-year-old old woman who had Scleroderma disease. She passed from congestive heart failure. I wanted to be able to care for patients better so I went to CNA school and received my certification for CNA and Home Health. My first patient was a man with cerebral palsy through an agency and he was bed only, with feeding tube, catheter, a-port, c-pap and full care, bed baths, diapers, etc. I have been a caregiver most of my life to recently taking care as a live in caregiver for 7 yrs. and is now 94 years old dementia patient. We just placed him in a memory care facility as he needs more medical attention than I can give or family. I am working part time for now to be with him. They have been the best years.
