I have worked with special needs children for the past six years. I started doing so because I had had a lifelong dream of helping children who needed extra love and attention, and was thrilled to receive the proper training to do so. In the fall of 2011, I began working in a day treatment program for behaviorally challenged/mentally ill/learning challenged student. While there, I worked with students from the age of six all the way up to 20. It was the best job that I ever had. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than giving these kids a chance in life. I only left it because the school closed. I believe with all my heart that these students need caregivers and teachers who will patiently give them the skills that they need to navigate the world around them and become happy and fulfilled members of society. I would be thrilled to continue working with special needs kids!
