I worked at a nursing home as a nurse for a year and a half and quit to go to Memphis to live in and take care of my 73-year-old aunt who was bed ridden and stricken with diabetes, dementia and side effects of a recent stroke. I took care of her for almost 2 years until she passed away while on hospice at home. Prior to that, I had experience taking care of my 93-year-old grandmother until she passed away while on hospice at home. I worked as a nurse over 20 years ago but resigned from nursing to raise and home school my children at home. My children are now grown and have left home so I am desiring to work again outside the home. I am passionate about the elderly and I prefer care giving on a one on one basis as a position as a senior caregiver provides.
