Over the past several years working with the elderly, two invaluable qualities that I have developed are patience and genuine, listening skills. I have worked in both a nursing home and for a service providing elder care. This has provided me with a great opportunity to learn both the clinical side and the personal side of nursing. Even though I prefer in home care for older loved ones, I realize there reaches a time when at home care is sometimes no longer feasible. It is sometimes just as difficult on the caregiver as it is the patient to see them transition to clinical or hospice care. I really enjoy working with the elderly and they have in turn taught me so much history and shared life experiences that have made me grow into a better person. Working with people in their own home provides them security and familiarity during the aging process. I have quite a bit of experience with dementia patients and know how important it is to supervise with love and affection. I am a CNA with CPR, AER and First Aid certifications. I am also a licensed massage therapist.
