I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old. I have experience caring for infants with my nephew and godson. As an employee I was a camp counselor at the YMCA where I was in charge of 16 children. My last job was at Santa Fe Little School in the preschool as an afternoon teacher. The reason I had to leave this job was that I transferred to University of Florida and you cannot work at the Little School without taking Santa Fe Classes. At the University of Florida I am an education major. I have volunteered in several schools in the Alachua county area: Hidden Oak Elementary, Littlewood Elementary, Duval Elementary, Williams Elementary, and Expressions Academy. I also have experience tutoring in math and reading. I was a tutor at Kid's Count in Alachua county for four months working with a student to develop literacy skills, bringing in high quality literature, and helping the student prepare for FCAT testing. I enjoy working with children and that is why I chose to become a teacher.

Though Sarah is a relative, she is the ONLY relative that we trust our son with. During his infancy, she was caring and attentive to his every need. Now that he is a toddler, while still attending to his every need, she is also his favorite playmate. He is so excited when Sarah comes to visit. He asks to "read books" with her days in advance. As you parents know, age 2 is difficult because curious toddlers will very quickly get themselves into trouble. Sarah is equally attentive, if not more attentive, than I am when it comes to potential hazards. She is not afraid to set safe limits but is in no way overbearing. I am never afraid that he will be a danger to himself when she is watching him. Even more importantly, if an accident does happen, as sometimes a child will trip and fall or get bit by a bug, Sarah is not afraid to inform us (even of very minor incidents) so we know exactly what happened. If I could find another caregiver near me that is as good as Sarah, I would hire her in a heart beat!
