I started working by the age of 14 I was babysitting for a family who had two boys was 1 1/2 and the other was 8, at first it was just supposed to be two days a week and then within a year it grew to five days a week and also at the same time she was starting her own business which I helped her run for the next 6+years. At this point I was in high school and working generally seven hours a day during the week and eight hours on Saturday I pick the boys up from school, would make them a snack did all their homework with them I made dinner for the family got them showered dressed put down to sleep and then started doing the orders for the business to get them ready for shipment. When I was 16 I graduated a year early from High School, I was actually the first person to graduate a full year early from Centereach High School. I started taking 5 to 6 courses this semester so I wasn't able to work for my boss as much as I used to so I went down to part time at this point and about a month later I found out I was pregnant as you can imagine my father was devastated and you know my sisters and my mother said by my side but unfortunately I had to move out but I managed I found a small studio apartment I kept going to college full-time I had a beautiful daughter that year May 15, 2001 I fully supported her I never took a dime of assistance from the state not even for her medical insurance and it wasn't the states responsibility for the taxpayers to pay for my child and I was determined to support her myself and graduate from college even if it would be a little bit later than I thought it would so instead of four years and took me five years and I'm very proud of that . During that time after I had my daughter I started working at a tuxedo store after about two years I became manager and I had worked there for six years until I graduated from college, about a year after I got my position to be a domestic violence advocate central Islip criminal and Family Court. Some of the tasks that I had was getting orders of protection in place for mothers and their children from the fathers you see a lot of bad stuff they would come in with black and blues all over the worst was seeing the children with bruises all over them, we would then start the hearings, get prepared for trial, get child support and then we would then eventually take it up to Supreme Court to go for a divorce. The end of January that year I had to leave my job because I had a dangerous pregnancy and was put on bed rest I ended up getting and my babies were born at 31 weeks so they were in the nicu and you know it was hard but there perfect and healthy now "Thank God", so as you can imagine since then I've been staying home, mom to twins in daycare was atheist $650 a week and I didn't even make that so definitely was not worth going back to work so I stayed home with them I'm now just starting to try to look into just getting a small part time and see how it goes .
