Most recently, I worked for the Autism Society of North Carolina as a Community Skills Instructor, caring for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. In addition to direct care work, I collaborated with family members, case managers, teachers, psychologists, and other community members to provide the best possible care for the individual's unique needs. Working for ASNC, I not only gained many skills as a care provider, tutor, and mentor, but developed an understanding of the network of support available to different individuals and my role within that network. I have a strong interest in neurological and developmental differences and find deep meaning in helping people thrive in a world that is often unresponsive to those with special needs. I am happy to provide references upon request.
