I currently nanny a 2 and 5yo part-time, for an amazing family in Greenville, SC. I drive them to preschool in the morning, pickup, and oversee lunchtime, nap/quiet time, playtime, and snacks. Some days we go to the park, creek, nature preserve, or zoo. Other days we craft and play at home, go wild playing outside, relax, have a movie day, or play with puzzles, colors, words, and numbers. I try, with parents, to create activities and scenarios that help their kids grow intellectually and emotionally. For example, the creative, arts-loving 5yo I watch is prone to get discouraged and frustrated at herself when she colors "outside the lines". So we paint on rocks and color on plain pieces of paper instead. And when we do allow a coloring book, we encourage resiliency in phrases like, "maybe his jacket is extra fuzzy today." Past jobs include care for a 2mo and 2yo from 8-5, naps, feeding, diaper changes, tummy time/play time, cleaning bottles and washing laundry. I love pets.
