I have a lot of experience working with children with special needs. My experience has been for eight years with the Capistrano Unified School District. I have worked with many different grades, pre-kindergarten through ninth grade. My experience in working with these children has been in Behavior Management strategies and techniques relating to pupils experiencing atypical control problems. I also assisted in teaching subjects, such as Arithmetic, Science, Grammar, Spelling, Reading and Physical Education. I've worked with children with Autism, severe learning handicaps, emotional disturbances, and physical handicaps. My duties: *Assisting instructional personnel with the delivery of lesson plans *Using positive reinforcement strategies for the development of appropriate behavior *Applying strategies and techniques to foster independence, self reliance, and social skills *Assisting students with basic personal care such as restroom help, grooming and feeding *Supervising children with indoor and outdoor activities *Performing routine clerical tasks, such as typing, computer operations, filing. photocopying, and maintaining daily records and files including confidential student records and information. I love caring for special needs children, as I do with all children, because it's fun and pleasurable for me. I do it because I love the challenge of helping someone be happy, gain confidence, and make progress. To me, it 's a privilege and honor to work with children with disabilities and help them reach their full potential. It's a pursuit that is meaningful, authentic, fulfilling, and highly enjoyable.
