I am a current student at Dominican University of California studying Occupational Therapy. I have completed my first year of graduate school and am on to my second. I would love to find a care giving/housekeeping/companion/jack of all trades position to practice and improve my occupational therapy skills. For those who don't know what occupational therapy is, its an allied health profession that works with clients from a holistic perspective (physical, mental, cognitive, emotional). Occupational therapists use assessments, evaluations, and clinical reasoning to assist clients in developing, recovering and maintaining daily living occupations. In occupational therapy, nothing is off limits - therapists work in a variety of environments delivering a variety of interventions. Occupational therapy is client centered and focuses on assisting the needs of the individual. Because of the nature of occupational therapy, I have worked in several setting and jobs ranging from human resources, after-school youth programs, elderly care, community rebuilding, administrative assistant, college resident adviser and more.
