I am 27 years old and just moved from Crete, IL to Clarkston, WA to help a family with four girls who have different types of disabilities. I do not get a lot of hours with them so I am looking for something part time to help pay the bills. I love working with people of all ages, especially children. I have a lot of experience working with children without disabilities and those who do have disabilities. My family did foster care for 10 years and took care of over 50 babies, and we adopted three of them. I come from a big family so there were always lots of people and crazy times. I was home-schooled from third grade all the way through high school. I attended a community college in Chicago Heights, IL for 5 years and graduated with an Associates degree. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and I was also a CNA but my certification has expired. I recently became a certified Doula and have helped a couple women already. Before moving to Washington I was working in our local elementary school as a special ed para-pro. While working at the school I worked with a student who was in fourth grade and had a lot of medical conditions. He was a hemophiliac, had spina bifida, and had some muscle weakness and he was wheelchair bound. I worked with him for two years. I also worked with a third grader who was on the spectrum for Autism. I was working with the third grader up until I moved here to Washington. While I was living back in IL I worked with my two cousins who have disabilities. My one cousin is mentally retarded and has seizures. My care for her consisted of giving medication, changing, dressing, and feeding. My other cousin was almost blind in both eyes and had a significant hearing lose. She was also on a feeding tube and had a colostomy bag. My care for her required handling the feeding tube, emptying her colostomy bag and changing it when needed, changing her wet diapers, bathing, dressing, and working with her on standing, walking, and playing with her. If you have any question at all please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you! :)
