Hi, My name is Olivia and I have been as summertime special needs aide at the Darien YMCA for the past 3 summers now. I have lots of experience with children who have disabilities. I was also deeply involved with Best Buddies in high school so have worked with kids from 4 years old to over 20 years old who have disabilities. I find a lot of patience is sometimes needed when working with children who have disabilities. However, it is ultimately such a rewarding experience because I get fulfillment knowing that I contributed something positive in the kid's life. I love seeing children who I have worked with in the past. It brings me a lot of joy knowing they remember my name and remember the times we spent together during the summer. This lets me know that my time spent with them was meaningful which is all I could really ask for.
