Caring for special needs children has been a huge thing in my life since I met a kid who had down syndrome in the 7th grade. He inspired me to become more involved with volunteering for special Olympics and other such as activities. He is currently my "peer buddy" at school. Peer buddies is a program where a student is paired with a special needs student and they simply just hangout for about an our a week. The people I have worked with have disabilities ranging from down syndrome to autism to developmental disorders. I have never been paid for my work helping special needs children but I believe it shows my true passion for it. It is not about the money, it is helping the child and having fun doing it! I have over 500 hours of volunteering with special needs children. Helping special kids is a passion of mine that will never die!
