Mary was a part of "Team Bob" for well over three years, ensuring the very best of care and becoming a lioness in patient advocacy for him. My father was a rocket scientist diagnosed with aphasia, dementia and Alzheimer's. A difficult combination in normal circumstances, but add the mind of a genius that didn't want to give up? His days could be daunting. Yet Mary spent every day with him with joy in her heart, a quick smile, and even quicker thinking to keep him entertained and happy.
It did indeed take a village with my dad, and Mary was the cornerstone, and often our family's rock during dad's decline. His last three years were probably some of the happiest and most engaged of his life. They say that Alzheimer's patients need routine - dad's routine was to do something new and inventive every day. All because of Mary. Mary became a trusted partner - researching meds/side effects, and managing his life. Her communications were thorough and humorous. Please contact me for more info.
