I have taken care of my mom for the past year and a half for about a total of six months. She lives in Texas where my sister is her primary caregiver. I fly out to Texas to relieve my sister periodically. My mom has Alzheimer's/dementia. I prepare her meals, help her to the bathroom, change her (adult diapers), get her ready for her meals, keep her company, give her medications and prepare her for bed. I have also worked as a medical assistant to a surgeon and also a doctor of internal medicine. I enjoyed working with our patients and I cared greatly about their welfare. I left this field and became a legal secretary for approximately 10 years. Taking care of my mom has been a wonderful experience and I have been looking to work in this field.
