About Lori

I'd describe my personality as friendly, empathetic, and supportive. I like tutoring because many students get lost in the shuffle at school. Today's schools are passing students to the next grade without mastering basic skills. This creates an endless cycle of learning loss that leads to behavior problems and a feeling of failure for many kids. I love seeing struggling students discover that they CAN learn and that they ARE smart! My biggest joy is seeing the lightbulb brighten when a student masters a skill they thought was impossible. One thing you should know about me is I don't give up on kids. Behavior is a form of communication and a child who behaves poorly at school is a child who is communicating that they need someone to believe in them and help them understand. My top skills include finding a different way to teach when a student is not understanding, helping students who have lost their way find confidence and self worth again, and making learning fun again.
