I first became acquainted in the world of special needs through my son, who was born with severe cerebral palsy. My 20-year journey with him taught me the unconditional love and kindness that special children bring to your life along with teaching me the following skills: gastronomy tube feeding, tracheotomy suctioning, medication administration, incontinence care, etc. I served as a paraprofessional in a multi-handicapped classroom for six years and have an additional one year experience in a TMR classroom and one year in a Life Skills classroom and one year in a RISE classroom in a public school setting. I have worked in the home health setting as a personal care attendant/habilitation training specialist/ nanny for 20+ years that provides services to special needs individuals in their home, training them on daily living skills, as well as taking them out in the community for fun and socialization. I also have experience in being a caregiver to elderly client.
