I earned my Bachelor's in Special Education and am passionate about teaching and building meaningful relationships with students. For three years, I taught life skills to about 40 adults with intellectual abilities from diverse backgrounds. I practiced flexibility and staying calm, even in stressful situations. During college, I student taught elementary school students with autism. I used positive reinforcement to promote good decision making among students. Furthermore, I have experience tutoring, interning with middle schoolers, working as a camp counselor, substitute teaching at a day care and babysitting. As an elementary school student, school did not come easily for me. Thanks to my supportive parents and teachers, I excelled after elementary school. However, my experience as a struggling student gave me empathy and patience for other struggling learners. I value creating a safe and positive environment where kids can be themselves and have fun.
