I have been caring for a grandson with cerebral palsy, a husband who died of brain cancer six years ago, and mother who recently passed away as a result of a terminal illness. I changed my career as an Office Manager/Executive Assistant five years ago to train as a CNA. I went into the care giving business for the joy and satisfaction it brings from helping children with disabilities as well as adults with varying health challenges. My business is registered in the State of Virginia (Mindful Caregivers, Inc.), that allows me to work as a Private Duty Caregiver/Respite provider in the metro area. I have worked with children with Cerebral Palsy, MPS III (Sanfilippo) and Autism; adults with Diabetes, Blindness, Stroke, Parkinson, and Dementia. I have touched the lives of my clients in a very positive way. They give me very excellent marks and will vouch for me at any time.

Leona worked for my family for about 2 years. She was great with our 9 year old who suffers from MPS IIIB, a rare genetic, and fatal disorder. We only ended the work relationship because we needed more assistance and hired a live-in caregiver. If the opportunity presents itself, we would hire her again as she is caring, reliable and a good worker. It was very hard to let her go!
