I'm a self-employed writer and English tutor who has been caring for infants and children for more than 50 years as a big sister, an au pair in Paris, and a nanny during graduate school. From December 2012 until January 2015, I was in a very happy nanny share, caring for children who ranged in age from one month to 32 months. I'm now working part-time, making me available for occasional assignments in the evening and on the weekend.
I regard childcare as a valuable service and a delightful way to use both my intellect and my emotional intelligence. I have toilet-trained several toddlers and taught two 2-year-olds to read, and I encourage consideration, manners, and a love of learning for its own sake. My clients value this engagement with their children, and they appreciate my sophistication, candor and composure; that's why I have received 17 five-star reviews on Care. com. Kids of all ages like me because I'm warm, gentle, and playful. (My pet bunny, who visits on invitation, also scores points.)
I prefer jobs no more than 30 minutes away by bicycle or public transit. I have a license and an immaculate record, but I don't own a vehicle. I am certified in CPR and First Aid for infants and children, and I am training to be a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children in the District.
If I sound like someone you want in your family's life, please contact me at your earliest convenience. I promise to respond and, after we talk, I will be delighted to share my letters of recommendation and extensive background information.
