I'm a self-employed writer and English tutor who has been caring for infants and children for more than 50 years - as a big sister, as an au pair during a writing stint in Paris, and as a nanny during graduate school. Most recently, I was a very happy nanny to two youngsters - a toddler girl and an infant boy - in a nanny share that lasted more than two years; sadly, the arrangement ended January 30 when one family withdrew for reasons unrelated to my performance. I'm now seeking a similar position, although it need not be a share.
And I'm also available for occasional work during the day Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, every evening, and overnight.
I consider childcare an honorable occupation that requires intelligence, imagination and integrity. My clients appreciate the fact that I'm not a typical sitter. Parents value my sophistication, candor, and genuine engagement with their children. (I've toilet-trained several toddlers and taught 2-year-olds to read, and I encourage manners.) Kids of all ages like me because I'm warm, gentle, and playful.
I prefer a location I can reach by bicycle or public transit within 30 minutes; I have a license and an immaculate record, but I don't own an automobile. I'm certified in CPR and first aid for infants and children.
