I'm a self-employed writer and English tutor who has been caring for infants and children for more than 50 years as a big sister, as an Au pair during a writing stint in Paris, and as a nanny during graduate school. I currently supplement my income as a nanny to two infants, but I m also available for occasional work every evening, overnight, and on the weekend.
I consider childcare an honorable occupation that requires intelligence, imagination and integrity. My clients appreciate the fact that I'm not a typical sitter. Parents value my sophistication, candor, and genuine engagement with their children. (I've toilet-trained several toddlers and taught two 2-year-olds to read, and I encourage manners and consideration.) Kids of all ages like me because I'm warm, gentle, and playful.
I prefer jobs no more than 30 minutes away by bicycle or public transit. I have a license and an immaculate record, but I don't own a vehicle. I am certified in CPR and first aid for infants and children and I am training to be a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for children in the District.
