I am a 27-year-old female who just moved to MA from NH about 6 months ago. My previous job I worked as a "DSP" (Direct Service Professional ). I started out working with a individual who has low functioning autism, mobile and nonverbal but used pec's to communicate with staff. (Picture exchange communication). I also have experience in working with Individuals with CP, Brain Damage, chronic nose bleeds, and who are immobile. I was certified to distribute medications, change an ostomy bag, and cathing an individual when needed. My job was to help these individuals live their life to the fullest. I would help them with their every day routines such as hygiene, PT/OT and preparations of meals. I drove them to their jobs or desired destinations. If they did not have a place to be and just wanted to be out of the house I would help them find something fun to do for the day such as visit friends, family, or even go bowling. I helped assist these individuals at doctors appointments or even during emergencies such as fire drills or ER visits. I am passionate about the work I do, I hope I get the chance to make a difference in someone's life once again.
