I have always been comfortable with caring for children with special needs. I looked after a family member with special needs for four years. He had Cerebral Palsy and was unable to move, swallow, or function on his own. I was able to do everything that was required to take care of him, including changing diapers, bathing, prepping bottles for feeding (fed out of a mickey tube), and moving him. I also worked at an ENT doctor as a receptionist and was responsible for talking to children during their appointments and being able to calm them down and make them feel comfortable with me even though they did not know me, or did not want to calm down. I love children, no matter what condition they are. Special Needs Children isn't a negative or inconvenience to me, it is something that happens for a reason and I can only learn and appreciate it.
