I have a passion for working with children and young adults with special needs. I have worked with young adults (ages 18-22) who have developmental disabilities (i. e., autism, severe stuttering, cerebral palsy) with building daily life skills & employment skills. Through Care. com, I provided care for a young teen who had development delays, assisting him with homework, playing various games, puzzles, and daily pick-ups from school. My approach is to be genuinely interested in the young person, their ideas, & interests, thereby allowing them to open-up as their ability allows. I work to build a trusting relationship & their self-confidence. I also work within parental guidelines. Young people have told me I am nice, fun, & their parents have told me that I am good with their children. I am patient, kind, trustworthy, & responsible. I am a non-smoker, have a flexible schedule, my own transportation, love pets, am level 2 background cleared (FBI & the FL Dept. of Law Enforcement).
