I am deeply passionate about individuals with special needs. I have 4 years experience caring for a Paraplegic gentleman when I was in college (1 year) and for someone I lived with with Progressively deteriorating MS. In addition, I grew up with a dear friend who has cerebral palsy. He was my neighbor. He is paraplegic and he is hysterically funny and terribly brilliant. I watched my father struggle with severe Parkinson's in his 80's (the type that constricts all your muscles). Though it was horribly painful to watch him suffer, I am grateful I was able to care for him on and off for a few years as he went through this neurological challenge that took his life. He is the person who taught me to treat all people the same no matter where they come from. I finally got to know him during his years with Parkinson even though he could not always speak.
