I worked for over 15 years as a teaching assistant with Deaf-blind children with multiple disabilities. I became a kind of generalist who could help special education teachers and other professionals meet a student's educational needs. I also mastered personal care assistant skills such as transferring, dressing, feeding, washing, administering emergency medicine, and toileting for children according to their level of independence. Over my career, I developed a specialization in helping children with practical skills like doing laundry and vocational learning. I left work in a school setting to explore occupational therapy as a profession. During the pandemic, I would like to use my experience and skills to support families at home with their children with special needs. CORI check Fall 2019. I live in Cambridge with my cat Maisy and participate in a Saturday morning Run and Read book group and a small local Episcopal Church.
