I have experience caring for people with special needs ages 13-21. I have gained this experience while working for a School District and Parks and Recreation Department. While employed at the school district, I have worked with high school special education students as a paraprofessional. As a para, I have reinforced curriculum that emphasizes life skills, interpersonal skills, and various academic subjects. Also as a para, I have supervised students on field trips to practice job skills and life skills in the community. While an employee for Parks and Rec, I developed and taught a fishing course for special education students in the 18-21 program. I focused on teaching the students new skills that they could enjoy with their families in their free time. In addition to this, I also incorporated math and science into the curriculum through hands on activities, games, and worksheets. Working with people who have special needs has grown into a passion for me and I would love to continue my work by helping out those in need.
