I have worked with a few children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. From 2007-2009, I cared for a Elementary aged girl with severe ASD. I spent the summer of 2008 caring for a 12-year-old with moderate ASD. From February 2010-July 2010, cared for a 12-year-old boy with mild-moderate ASD. He has a teenage brother with Asperger's that I would make meals for and check up on. My passion for working with children diagnosed with autism began when I started care for the girl. Although she did not speak, she had an excitement for life and bright smile that captured my heart. I have experienced great challenges working with these children. I have a desire to show special needs children what it means to be loved, because the rest of the world doesn't always know how to do that.
