Hello! I'm a full-time college student who is set to obtain an associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences in May 2021. I will be taking a year off from school in order to wait and join Early Education / Special Education cohort that will be accepting new students in 2022. Until then, I'm looking to help local families. I have 3 years of experience working in an elementary school setting as a Special Education Paraprofessional. I've had the pleasure of working with children that had a multitude of special needs including autism, down syndrome, ADHD, various learning or developmental disorders, as well as children who were in wheelchairs. I also have experience working with deaf / hard of hearing children and am proficient in ASL (and French). While I have experience with special needs children, I also have plenty of experience with neuro-typical children in an education setting, as well as my own 5-year-old daughter. If you have any questions, feel free to message me!

We were temporarily visiting your beautiful city of Hilo and needed a caregiver to help with our special needs, non verbal, 21 year old daughter who also has fairly complex medical needs. Kayla had asked many questions about our daughter during our phone conversation and arrived at our hotel room with items in hand that she had brought with her to capture and keep our daughter's interest. Our daughter is often non compliant but Kayla seemingly magically was able to gain our daughter's co-operation. Kayla was confident and capable in her interactions and needed little assistance or direction from me. She is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced in working with special needs children. She also had a very calming and loving personality which helped both my daughter and me to relax. I would definitely hire her again. M.A. from Canada
