I have been working full time in a group home for adults for three years now. I have spent time in several group homes and some time in the company day program the clients attend. I absolutely love spending time with the clients and helping them from day to day. Although there are some difficulties and frustrations that come along with the job, I am full of patience and understanding. I have worked with many different people with various kinds of special needs, some of which include schizophrenia, bi-polar disease, border line personality disorder, autism and down syndrome. There are always areas in which I feel I could improve which include the more medical side of those with special needs, which I have been trained in but have not have much experience, but I definitely learn quickly!
