I am a mother of 4 grown children (1 son and 3 daughters), and a grandmother of 6 grandsons (all adorable). In 1999, I helped my husband start a very successful software company, and was in charge of organizing the administration, human resources, and finances of the company. I have worked for the company since then, but now am very part time (5-10 hours/week), and the company is in maintenance mode . Prior to working at his company, I owned my own licensed child care business for 9 years while my 2 younger children were infant to kindergarten age. This was a professional business, with weekly themes/calendars, incorporating songs, crafts, field trips, and preschool activities. My goal was to run a child care like the kind I would want my children to be in if I was working, and since my own children were a part of that care, I succeeded in operating a top-notch business. Prior to that, I worked in the health insurance and employee benefit fields. I performed several jobs in health insurance, including customer service and sales. My last position prior to starting my child care business was as Benefits Manager for The Children's Hospital. My strengths and skills are: setting up systems, organizing both from scratch and with current systems, managing finances, writing and editing, working with people, gardening and garden design, understanding the developmentally appropriate behavior for children, pet care (including care of pets with medical needs), staying calm in crises, and flexibility (with the ability to adjust schedules, etc. as needed). My talents and gifts are: outgoing personality, ability to understand the reasons behind behavior, especially with children (thus, for example, I don t react to negative behavior, but, rather, step back and determine the reason behind it), garden design (including picking the right plants), being able to break down problems or projects into pieces to maximize solutions, and the ability to see the bigger picture and think outside the box . I am a warm and loving person, and my grandsons would attest to how loving I can be (but they know they can t run me over either). I am in good health, although a bit overweight, and enjoy being outdoors, love nature, love Zumba, have a good sense of humor, love children and dogs, and traveling (have traveled a lot, Hawaii being my favorite, so would be available to assist with travel as a nanny or other helper as needed). I have a clean driving record, am honest and reliable, and good with people (I can talk to almost anyone). I am looking for a position where I can do a variety of duties, such as being a nanny, organizing a household, managing finances, running errands (and children to activities), gardening, pet care, and house sitting. I am not a cook, but can make simple meals, and I prefer to only do light housekeeping. I look forward to exploring opportunities!
