Josefina began working for us in August 2015, taking care of my mother, who had dementia, while my father was hospitalized recovering from a stroke. She made sure my mother was safe, took her medication, and fixed her meals. When my father returned home, Josefina helped him with his physical therapy, made sure he walked and exercised daily, fixed delicious, nutritious meals, did grocery shopping, took him to appointments and shopping, and helped with my mother's care. She also walked and fed their small dog.
In June 2017 my father entered hospice care. Josefina monitored and reported on daily changes in his health, performing more personal care than he had previously needed (including a catheter), and ordered needed supplies. The hospice nurse felt comfortable relying on her judgement assessing my father's condition and medication needed. It was comforting for my father to have her with him every day and comforting for me to have someone I trusted there when I could not be.
