My name is Jordan and I am 23 years old. I have been working with a Special Needs Playground Program for five summers. That program has people ranging from ages 5-26 and I have had experience with blind campers, campers with Down syndrome, campers with Autism, campers with Cerebral Palsy, campers who are deaf, campers who are wheelchair bound, campers with cognitive disabilities and campers who are emotionally impaired. We care for them at a park and take them into the community on field trips. I also have been a caregiver for a 9-year-old boy with a chromosomal depletion for almost three years. I care for him in his home as well as take him out into the community. I love what I do. When I was in college, I changed my career path so that I could work with people who have disabilities. I plan on becoming an occupational therapist and work primarily in a school for special needs children. I just graduated from MSU and I am taking prerequisites for graduate school this next year to get admitted for a graduate program. I gain so much more from the kids I work with than what they receive. It constantly puts a smile on my face to know I am helping others!
