First of all, let me say, I love this profession. I love babies and small children. I love the interaction and watching as they learn and grow. I have 4 children of my own, all now young adults. The best time of my life was raising and enjoying my kids. I was always active in my children's lives, whether at school or with outside activities. I worked part-time in the accounting field until my 4th child was born. At that time, I became a full-time, stay-at-home mom, which is an oxymoron since no mother stays at home with 4 children on the run! I worked at my kids' school as an aide, or organizing Christmas programs. Even in high school, I was there--much to their chagrin! Lots of sports activities, crafts, drama, music--I tried to be there for it all, as involved as they wanted (or sometimes didn't want) me to be. The kids and I fostered animals for a local animal rescue for 8 years; we have 7 adopted rescues to prove it! I am an avid reader and always read to my kids before bedtime and naps (usually along with milk and cookies). As they got older, we also volunteered feeding the homeless and at shelters. I also volunteered at a nursery for many years. I believe kids need to experience everything, and will adjust to so much. I traveled extensively, worldwide, with my children through the years and enjoyed every minute. Now back in the work force, I chose this profession as opposed to my prior one, after having kids of my own and finding how much I love being a part of little ones' lives. I am a loving, kind, patient and fun nanny.
