He is 20 years old now and has had to battle with ADHD and asthma the majority of his life. While caring for him, it was imperative that I pay attention to detail and have patience. Over the years, I have become friends with many people (of various ages) with different types of mental illnesses and cognitive disabilities. I've found that in caring for this particular population, I am not only compassionate but empathetic as well.
