Throughout the year I supervised Jessica, she distinguished herself as one of the most caring, capable, and reliable people I have met. Jessica has the ability to put people first without compromising her strong planning and time management skills, which makes her an effective leader and personable team member. Whether she was working as Head Resident Director, on academics, or as a Nurse Tech at the Children's Hospital, she persevered and accepted only the best from herself.
As Jessica s supervisor, I was able to see first-hand her ability to work through new challenges. Part of the Head Resident Assistant position entails serving as a liaison between the Resident Director (myself) and the residence hall s Resident Assistants. The duality of this role can be challenging at times, but Jessica, consistently professional and composed, served as a mentor to others, provided feedback, set a positive example, and maintained confidentiality when appropriate. Through this role, Jessica was able to successfully support three new Resident Assistants. Jessica works long hours energetically and without complaint; she persists gracefully through trying situations and reflects when she needs specific support.
Jessica embodies the Residential Living Office s values of inclusion, civic engagement, and relationship building. In addition to overseeing three committees, Jessica single-handedly ran a recognition program to acknowledge Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants, and students in the residence hall for going above and beyond in the community. Jessica also created and maintained a building website as a means for the residence hall staff to stay informed and have easy access to important resources. Additionally, she designed and submitted a plan for the winter term to include weekly resident activities, budgeting, supply acquisition, advertisement, etc. Jessica cares deeply about her residents and keeps them at the center of her exemplary work.
