At the university that I attend, I am a personal assistant for students that have physical disabilities. I assist with getting students in and out of bed, brushing their teeth, showering, transferring to and from their wheelchairs, and helping with their bathroom needs. In high school, I had experience with students with autism. I was a peer educator for the special needs physical education class. I also had the opportunities of volunteering at the Special Olympics and helping students with autism read and work on projects. In the future, I hope to become a pediatric occupational therapist. Aside from creating friendships with the students I work with, I am influenced and able to learn more about life with these kids. I only wish to bring positivity and support into the lives of the people I work with.
