I began my experience as a care provider by being the big sister and Mom's full-time helper. By the age of 12, I was babysitting regularly for family and friends on weekends and full-time during the summer. I worked part-time at an after-school program as a teacher for three in a half years. I have also been a nanny part-time for a few years, and worked in a childcare setting for awhile. I often find myself opening my home to children in my neighborhood to come learn and grow. My responsibilities range from reading to children, helping them one-on-one with different areas of struggle and of course engaging them with creative activities. I truly believe all children are bright and need to be infused with encouragement, love and discipline (when necessary), to reach their highest capabilities. It's such a joy working one-on-one with a child and after struggling with an issue, a light goes on and they understand exactly what to do, it's a rewarding moment!!
