In 1999 I landed a position as a Pet Cab driver working for a grooming shop where I would pick up animals from their houses and drop them off to be groomed and back home at the end of the day. I loved that job! My favorite days at the shop was when I picked up Takara, a black timberwolf - she was a beautiful majestic creature. I loved handling her. So you see I was responsible for many different species of animals..... aardvarks to zebras.
I became a bonded pet sitter while working for the grooming shop. I also worked for a Doggy Daycare business where my clients would drop off their animals for the day and that would be the start of my pet sitting - taking the animal(s) home at the end of the day and finishing up the care or staying the night - whichever the client needed of me. I loved all my clients - but mostly the wild ones.
These days whenever I am in Colorado visiting my daughter I am fortunate enough to volunteer at WOLF. A Wolf Sanctuary in Northern Colorado mountains. I help feed them, clean out (& scoop poop) their fenced in areas, give first aid and cuddle with them. Not all the wolves there are able to be handled as they are Wild but the Ambassador Wolves & Wolf Dogs are somewhat friendly. My last trip to the sanctuary I was able to groom 2 wolves & 1 wolf dog - Tunyan, 100% wolf, Sigmund, he's part wolf, part collie and Isabeau, she's 100% wolf - all 3 are friendly. I even swapped spit with all 3. Michelle., a girl who works at the Sanctuary took me into their area and let them sniff me well the next thing I know Sigmund is sitting in my lap wanting me to scratch his stomach and Tunyan is licking my face ! That day at WOLF was my most favorite of all and I will forever keep it in my heart.
I just finished a 10 day pet sit for my Los Gatos, CA client. I stayed at her house while taking care of Milo, a cat, Smores, a bunny, Faith, a horse , 22 chickens and an Italian Mastiff, her name is Bella. Melody has been my pet sitting client for many years even after I no longer worked at The Pet Spa Grooming Shop.
My motto is " I'll take such great care of your pets they'll want to come home with me ".
