I am a 42-year-old female from Maine. I have been employed in 5 different day cares and been a nanny for two families in Maine. I have also worked in the special needs field for over 20 years which includes working with adults with mental disabilities, children with behavioral issues in a school system and an elderly woman with Alzheimer's. I have been taking care of an elderly couple in Florida for the last five years. The wife was not able to walk and had dementia. She needed full on care everyday. After she passed I cared for only the husband who had limited mobility and needed assistance for daily living. They have both since passed on. I enjoy working with people and forming relationships. It brings so much more meaning to the workday

Jackie has worked as a Direct Support Professional for 10+ years and is an asset to our program. Jackie is reliable, honest and hard working. Jackie has a quiet confidence that the clients in her care find comforting. Jackie is creative and willing to "test the waters" with new activities even when she knows the activity may not be successful due to client limitations. Jackie is well liked by clients and peers alike. Over the years, Jackie has worked as a full time employee and also reduced her hours to part time or per diem, but her dedication to the job remained consistent. As Jackie ventures to a new area of the country, I wish her well and any agency that employs her will be pleased with her work.
