My experience with the senior population is new. I was given the opportunity to volunteer in the social services and activities departments at a nursing home in the fall of 2019 and immediately fell in love with the environment and presence of having seniors around me. I did a lot of work organizing and facilitating activities, assisting residents with daily tasks, provide snacks and drinks and deescalating/redirecting behaviors to create positivity. However, one of my favorite jobs was just sitting and talking with residents to give them socialization and companionship.
