It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Ieshas. Iesha possesses natural talents for teaching and a passion for impacting the academic achievement of inner city students.
I first met Iesha during her junior year at high school. As the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, I worked with the Partners In Achievement (PIA) group to which Iesha belonged. The members of the PIA decided that spring to work together to acquire funding to attend the Presidential Inauguration. As plans for that field trip evolved, Iesha demonstrated strong leadership skills and took on responsibilities for presentations to district and community leaders, fund raising, and organizing the participation of fellow students. Her ability to communicate ideas in a powerful manner, along with her enthusiasm, helped to acquire support for the project.
As her resume indicates, Iesha has taken advantage of multiple opportunities to put herself in both training and work situations that have provided her with a variety of experiences related to working with students. She has honed her skills, as well as her dedication to acquiring a valuable set of instructional experiences. Iesha has approached each of these situations with an open mind, enabling her to maximize her own learning. She will take all that she has learned into her own classroom and always be focused on meeting the needs of each and every student.
During my long career, I searched diligently for teachers who were knowledgeable and skilled but who also realized the necessity of continuously adding new strategies to their repertoire. Iesha is such a teacher. Her caring and energetic approach, her passion for learning and her own academic success will be motivating to students. She understands that much work is necessary to provide instruction that will engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Time and again, she has demonstrated her willingness to take on challenge. There are many challenges in P-12 education and any school would benefit from having Iesha as a staff member. She is a collaborative team member but also a leader and will contribute greatly to student achievement.
If I were in a position to hire teachers, I would hire Iesha. I have no doubt of her potential as an effective teacher and instructional leader. If I can be of additional assistance, please contact me.
