I taught high school level history classes at Makarios Community School in Grapevine in Summer and Fall, 2017, where I was also a mentor for kids from 5 to 18 years old. The actual classes only took up about 4 hours of my week and the rest of the time at the school was spent hanging out and playing games with the kids, working with them on committees for various initiatives at the school, or taking part in the school meeting which was the democratic body open to all students and staff that ran the entire school. A good deal of time was also spent one-on-one with students helping them do the work they felt necessary to pursuing their interests. I am also helping to build a network of independent schools in the DFW area that are linked together by a focus on self-directed learning. I graduated Summa Cum Laude (4. 0 GPA) from the University of North Texas with a B. A. in History. I consider my knowledge base well-rounded so I can help with many subjects, but especially in social sciences.
