I am a certificated teacher specialist for special needs population. I taught self-help, social, behavioral, academic skills, and enrichment activities to students, ages 3 years to adult. I taught special needs classes (mild/moderate/severe) in which disabilities included autism, developmental disabilities, mental retardation, multi-handicapped, and emotionally disturbed. I enjoyed teaching am I am very compassionate and devoted. However, I left teaching to care for my then 84-year-old parent, who was diagnosed with dementia and other complications.
