I have been a teacher in a university setting where there was much diversity and children with special needs. I had children each year that had a special needs. For instance, in my 1-2-year-old class we had a sweet girl who was hearing impaired so I used sign language to communicate a lot that year. In the process, the class learned it as well! I also worked one-on-one with a young girl who had spina bifida who till this day stay in touch with, 10-plus years later! I had experience working in a special needs preschool in college and also spent a year as a literacy coordinator and worked with children who had developmental challenges and delays. I have really enjoyed working with the families as well as the children as we are all a part of advocating for these children to get them what what they need and deserve. Mostly, I just enjoy loving on them! They are all so precious!
